What’s the strategy of using diesel engine in winter?
In winter, the climate is cold and the ambient temperature is low. It is more difficult to start the diesel engine because the intake temperature of the diesel engine, the temperature of the cooling water, the temperature of the oil, and the temperature of the liquid in the battery of the fuel temperature are reduced accordingly. If the diesel engine cannot be used correctly at this time, it will cause difficulty in starting, power drop, fuel consumption rise, and even failure to operate normally. Therefore, the following points must be noted when using the diesel engine in winter:
1.The fuel selection of diesel generators is very particular. In winter, light diesel with low freezing point and good firing performance should be used. In general, the freezing point should be lower than the minimum temperature of 10℃.
2.Under low temperature conditions, diesel has high viscosity and poor fluidity, which may cause poor atomization, unstable operation of the diesel engine, and even interruption of oil supply. For this reason, diesel oil that is basically adapted to the ambient temperature should be used in winter.
3.At lower temperatures, the viscosity of the oil increases, increasing the resistance to crankshaft rotation. When starting the diesel engine with the battery voltage unchanged, the diesel engine can be started by increasing the power. Winter oil can be used wherever possible.
4.When the ambient temperature is about -35 degrees, if the cold water is added to the water radiator after the diesel engine is started, the cold water will enter the radiator and freeze immediately due to the temperature being too low. Therefore, in areas with low ambient temperatures, the radiator should be filled with antifreeze that is compatible with the ambient temperature to prevent the body, radiator and pump from being cracked.
5.In areas with lower temperatures, the density of the battery electrolyte should be appropriately increased according to changes in temperature. At the same time, due to the large starting resistance, the battery discharge current increases. At this time, the regulator of the charging generator should be properly adjusted to increase the charging current.
6.When starting the diesel engine in winter, it is best to add hot water to the radiator. Never use the method of heating the oil with a blowtorch or an open flame to reduce the viscosity or resistance of the oil. The consequences of this will cause the oil to deteriorate and form an oily rubber block in the burning part, and it is easy to deteriorate the oil casing gasket.
